PKMN of the Week: Magmar

This week, to celebrate Critical Hit, we are going to be talking about Magmar.

It evolves from Magby starting at level 30, and evolves into Magmortar when traded holding a Magmarizer.

Magmar is a Pokémon with a human-like stance that has traits of a duck and a mythical salamander. Magmar has a red body with a yellow flame design on it. It has a yellow tail that has a flame on it. Magmar has yellow thighs, black legs and red feet with two toes each. Magmar's arms are covered in red, rigid scales and it has red hands with five fingers. Magmar has a row of red spikes running down its back. Magmar has two lumps on its forehead with a flame on top of each one, and a yellow beak.

Due to Magmar's tail-flame and partial-reptilian appearance, it has been considered to be a distant cousin of the Charmander-line.

Fun Fact:
Magmar is one of four Pokémon to receive both a pre-evolution and new evolution in generations after its release. The other three are Chansey, Electabuzz, and Roselia.

Pokemon Concept Corner: Leveling the Gen 5 Conflict, Part 2

Why no dolphin love?Welcome once again, dear readers, to Pokemon Concept Corner! To explain to any new readers, last time, we looked at a few of the more bizarre Pokemon from earlier generations, to put the new Pokemon on a more equal playing field in the eyes of us fans.

Today, however, we’re taking a look at the opposite side of this coin. While there are many awesome new Pokemon, we can all agree that some of them are pretty flat-out stupid. And let’s be honest here, there are over 600 Pokemon now, so we’re gonna get some repetition and ridiculousness, but when you think about it there are actually some very good opportunities for Pokemon based of real animals that still haven’t been used, and a few of these are what we'll be talking about today.

Saturday Sketch

This week we have a not so serious yet still amazing picture of the Johto starters. I saw "GOLD-N-SILVER" by  Mr-MellowSmile appropriate since I know it was our latest guest, Matt's, favourite set of starters! (muwahhaha!!)

Other than that it's fairly simple why this is amazing. Those faces! Sit and stare at this for 2 minutes without busting out laughing. I can't. It's also faces like this that, as an artist, I enjoy when i'm drawing myself!

That's all for this week. Now I just need to prep for next week since i'll be busy Tron-in' it up!

Etsy Diving

It’s been a while for a Rare Article. It’s not even Thursday! With that aside, I thought I would bring you some interesting custom Pokémon items for sale. Now we were proud to announce our Poli-Shirts last week. Those shirts are limited to 100 made, and they will begin to ship next week. Exciting.

Anyways, today we look at Pokémon stuff found on Etsy. Etsy is where handmade and vintage stuff lives so others can enjoy and purchase these items. Let’s take a look at a couple of the cool stuff found on Etsy.

Pokémon Polar Fleece Hoodie

This item looks to be sold out, but if you had $107, you too could have bought this custom Pikachu Fleece. From the bright yellow, to the actually tail...

Welcome our NEW Editor: Acciolove

If everything would have went smooth last night, episode 021 would have been up by now. In that episode we congratulated Sarah, aka acciolove, about becoming an editor. Whoooo! Yet, we have to re-record episode 021 again tonight. No big deal.

Acciolove is our new Pokémon Facts Editor. She will be providing fact about Pokémon stuff that you may not even know about. Sarah is our youngest editor, and if you read her bio, she is also my sister. After a couple months of begging me to be an editor, she came to me with the idea of doing weekly facts. Her first article is pretty awesome. I hope you guys enjoy what Sarah has to bring to the table, and everyone welcome her with open arms.

MOTW: Baton Pass

So there are a lot of different types of strategies for battle out there. There’s the Hail/Blizzard combo to make a super powerful ice attack. There’s the Thunder/Rain combo to create a really effective electrical attack. There are even methods of powering up your move set by giving yourself a status aliment, but there is no move quite like Baton Pass in it’s ability to ‘hand off’ a set of stats...

PokéFact Time! PokéRap

Hey guys, I'm Sarah, a new staff member here on the coolest site ever. :] You will be finding out more about me when I get a page in the Trainer section, but for now all you need to know is: My name is Sarah. I am fourteen year old, though have been brought up with Pokémon. Oh and that I am the younger and better looking sister of Steven (sbj), the creator of this site. Since, I do not have a day assigned especially too me yet, you may see my post just randomly popping up here when it looks kinda empty so bare with me through that time. What exactly is my job? Well, I am the Pokémon Fact Editor, meaning I will be posting Pokémon related facts, that hopefully you did not know for your entertainment. I am here to please. So leaving off on that note, I would like to give you the first PokéFact ever!

Since I am a huge fan of the Originals, my first fact will be Original based and since it include a little of the evolutions of Poliwhirl, it matches well with this week. Well, I am sure every Pokemon fan is familiar with the PokéRap, the best Pokémon related song ever, but did you know that the song actually has two mistakes? When they say Poliwrath they show a picture of Poliwag and also when they say Graveler they show the image of Geodude. Clearly, someone got confused with their Pokémon. Don't believe me? Talk a walk down memory lane and see for yourself...

The Diglett Cave

I don't ever remember introducing the Diglett Cave to ya'll. The Diglett Cave  is the official Tumblr of the Pokémon Podcast. It is ment to be a place for thoughts and ideas for the site, that... well... haven't made it to the site yet. For example, I posted some wallpaper that didn't make it onto this site. Also, some music is posted there for some who care to know the rough stuff that is being worked on for the podcasts. It's pretty much the dirty and unclean material that hasn't matured enough to come over here. Check it out to hear a sample of the Theme music to our new Video Podcast: Critical Hit.

Oh yeah, and if you PRE-ORDER a shirt, you'll get a FREE gift with it. We rock.
