Saturday Sketch

I'm in depression until Christmas, so I this is very necessary. Only whovians will understand this, but I know there are a couple on here. If you have no idea what I am talking about you should go and click here and start with episode one, because there are only two people in this world: people who love Doctor Who and people who never seen it. And of course Steven is in the latter, only knowing that "it's something about a phonebox." ...So much to learn.

Anywho, this lovely comic was a collab between http://www.squidsalad.net and honeyandthewhirlwind.com. x

Show notes:

PKMN of the Week: Shinx

It is based on a lion cub or kitten. Its fur is mostly blue, yet there is a Pichu-like arrangement of black fur under its neck, and black fur under its torso. It has a long black tail with a gold four-pointed star on the end. Its forelegs each have a gold ring around them; these are electricity glands, similar to Pikachu's cheeks. It has large, oval ears with gold, star-like "fleur de lis" symbols on them. It has gold-pupiled eyes, and a pink-red nose. It has tufts of hair which will eventually grow into a mane; these can be seen on top and on the rear sides of its head. Whenever its mouth is shown open, small fangs can be seen developing.

Fun Facts:

  • Shinx's English name was originally thought to be "Spinx" because of a low quality photo with its name on it.
  • Shinx is the only Pokémon with a base stat total of 263.

PKMN of the Week: Pichu

A day late, but hey, it's here.

Pichu is a small ground-dwelling rodent. Its fur is very short, and it is pale yellow in color. The tips of its large ears are black, and it has additional black markings on its neck and tail. Its tail is short, but still bears some resemblance to the large lightning-bolt structure it will develop later on in life. It has pouches in its cheeks, which are pinkish colored and used for storing electricity. Its nose is extremely small, almost like a dot.

Pichu, like its evolutions, is capable of producing electrical sparks from its cheeks, charging itself with electricity more easily on days with thunderclouds or when the air is very dry. However, since Pichu is only a baby, it cannot control them as well, and may release electricity unintentionally. Fortunately, it is not able to store large amounts of electricity in its body.

Pichu, and its evolution family, Pikachu and Raichu, are the only known Pokémon that can learn Volt Tackle.

PokéFact: Sparkling and Mouse Squeaks

Happy Tuesday, Pokénerds. How are all of you today (: I am wondering what kind of facts you prefer, longer ones, where I go into I go into detail (and get off topic *cough*) or short ones where I just get to the point. Leave your thoughts down below.

Well, todays fact will be a short one, just because I don't feel like typing a long one. But it will be about the Pokémon we all know and love Pikachu! (Serious, is is possible to hate him?) Ever wonder where the name "Pikachu" came from? Guess what? You get to find out now! Pikachu is named after after the Japanese onomatopoeia for sparkling and mouse squeaks, because the word sparkling creates the sound "pika-pika" and the sound of a mouse squeak translate to "chu," therefore we get the word Pikachu. Pikachu was also the hardest to name out of all the Pokémon.

And that was your fact for today. Now I have to go and try to sleep, because I start school again tomorrow o.O I really have no idea how to end this now... So umm yeah. Goodbye.
