PKMN of the Week: Zapdos

Another legendary this week: Zapdos!

Zapdos is one of the legendary birds of Kanto. It is a poorly understood species, believed by many to be pure myth. It is always seen in conjunction with thunderstorms, leading many to believe that it gathers energy from the electricity in the atmosphere. It is also reported to cause massive crackling and snapping sounds when it flies; these are attributed to the lightning bolts it is said to shed when airborne.

Zapdos has the second highest Special Attack of all Electric-types with 125. Magnezone ranks first in this regard.

Zapdos is the only one of the legendary birds to not have a double weakness to Rock (or for that matter, any double weakness).

Zapdos's name is a combination of the word zap and the Spanish word for two, dos, indicating that it is the second in the series of Kanto legendary birds. Its Japanese name is simply Thunder.

Saturday Sketch

Today's sketch is something I found awhile back in the Realistic Pokemon group on DeviantART.

Wil and I have a strong dislike for Meganium, usually calling him "Pansyasaurus" so it's really awesome to see the artist, Peace-or-die, depict it in this way. If Meganium really looked like this I would definitely have one on my team!

As you guys know (and if you don't, where have you been all week? (: ), I'm now responsible for your Saturday sketches.

If you'd like to send me any suggestions for the SS please email them to:

Saturdaysketchftw@gmail.com

I will see you guys next week!

Exclusive Ringtones

Team Rocket Ringtone

I think sometimes we get carried away. Is that a bad thing... of course not. The Pokémon Podcast is proud to present sweet, exclusive iPhone ringtones. I'm sure other phones can play them too, but we can't please everyone.

These are free to download and put onto your iPhone or other mobile devices. We don't know specifics of how often we are going to pump some of these out, but if you like them and demand for them, then we will do it. If you have an Android or a Blackberry or any other phone, let us know so we can work something out.

Yes, Chartreuse is a real color, it's also an alcoholic beverage. "So good they named a color after it." If you get that reference, we will send you a free something. Something cool. Reply in the comments if you know.

Only us would think of something so awesome and crazy. Remember, we are the ONLY place to get cool Pokémon Ringtones!

Click the Dropbox icon to start your download.
Remember, it's free, and only found here!

It's kind of funny... what is... our site...

We've been around for about 4 months now, and as a site, we've never done an "About Us" section. I'm sure a lot of new people who visit the site are confused. Today we are going to cover the basics of the site and open a new tab for new readers.

Welcome to the Pokémon Podcast.

You're probably wondering what we are all about, right? Well let us introduce you to everything. Promise you won't regret your visit!

Catie - Our New Editor

We are absolutely pleased to introduce Catie as our new Saturday Sketch Editor. Her job will focus on getting amazing Pokémon Fan Art for you guys every Saturday. You may know Catie from the last couple episodes of "It's Super Effective". I'm so please that Catie is a part of this team, and if everything goes correctly, you can expect to see Catie at the Midwest Gaming Classic this upcoming March.

Give a warm welcome to our newest Team Member!

MOTW: Sludge Bomb

Now here’s a type that I think gets WAY overlooked in Pokemon. Not necessarily by trainers, but by Nintendo as a company. Even including Gen V Pokemans, there are still only 15 pure poison types, and only a couple dozen more that have half types. Poison type moves are some of the most useful in the entire game. Maybe not the most effective up front, but they definitely do their part on a team. Today we’re talking about the best one out there, Sludge Bomb.

Ironic that we are having a Pokemon Podcast voting thing on our site, but hey, someone wasn't doing it, so it's a void we can fill. Mostly, we are hoping this catches wind on other sites so those fans can jump over and vote too. Pretty much you guys bragging how much we rock. Remember, we do it for you!

Featured Team of the Week

This weeks team is brought to you by Ashley. Her team is still in the works, so as of right now, she only has 4 main Pokémon. Ashley is considering a couple to make a complete team of 6. It's your guys jobs to let her know what she should do with her current team, and what she should add to balance the entire 6. Good talking points. Enjoy!
