PKMN of the Week: Mewtwo

This weeks Pokémon is Mewtwo! Whooo!

Mewtwo is highly skilled with Psychic powers. It can levitate through use of telekinesis, speak telepathically, and take control of another living being's mind. It is known for its powerful Shadow Ball and Aura Sphere. Mewtwo is also capable of wielding various types of attacks (but to a lesser extent than Mew). To exert its powerful psychic abilities, it will stay motionless for long periods of time in intense concentration to raise its capabilities to the maximum power.

In the anime, Mewtwo also has the ability to telekinetically create massive hurricanes thought to be powerful enough to destroy the planet and is constantly protected from harm inside a deflective sphere of psychic energy. Mewtwo has also stated it can block a Pokémon's special abilities in battle.

Mewtwo has the second highest Special Attack in the game, surpassed only by the Attack Forme of Deoxys.

Mewtwo and Lugia have the highest base stat total of all Psychic-types.

Mewtwo's name is a combination of Mew, referring to the Pokémon on which it was based, and two, indicating that it is a clone of Mew. It also sounds somewhat phonetically similar to the English word mutant.

La PokéWalker

I’ve had a couple non-Pokemon people always ask me what I am wearing on my pants. A quick smile jumps to my face when I tell them it’s my PokéWalker. They generally ask a little bit more, but I usually simplify it by saying it’s a Pokémon Pedometer that counts my steps every day. Excited, I tweet every time someone comments on mine.

So that short story, that probably got all of you emotional, will lead into this week’s Rare Article... hopefully with little to no grammar errors.

The PokéWalker debuted with Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver earlier this year. The Pokéball shaped accessory was designed for Trainers to take their Pokémon with them when they weren’t playing the handheld game. Pokemon can be transferred to the PokéWalker to gain experience points every time the Trainer takes a step. Trainers can also “earn” watts, which help unlock items and gives the Trainers a chance to catch wild Pokémon. Pretty cool, right?

Curious about how this Pokémon themed pedometer relates to real life?
Let’s break it down into
3 real life facts!

MOTW: Dream Eater

Do you still have lingering thoughts of Halloween? Or what about decorations of skulls, and evil looking pumpkins? Do get spooked easily and have nightmares for days? Well then you might not want to read this article. In the wake of Halloween we’re going to be talking about Dream Eater...

If you have any intuition at all you can tell what Dream Eater does without even looking up its definition. It pretty much does exactly what it says it does. When your opponent is asleep, and only when they’re asleep, you can deal damage with Dream Eater and ‘eat their dreams’. Now, what on earth does that mean? Apparently dreams taste pretty good to some Pokemon and even restore HP. Whatever damage you...

PKMN of the Week: Steelix

Welcome to November!

This month we are going to kick it off with a Pokémon that weighs 881lbs.

Steelix is a dual-type Steel/Ground Pokémon.
It evolves from Onix via trade with a Metal Coat.

Steelix resemble giant iron snakes. They are a reflective, silvery gray, which reflects the sunlight making them shine slightly. They are about 30 feet long. Their body is made up of rock-like sections, some of which have massive rock spikes coming out of them. They have a massive head mainly made up of their jaw. The jaw is large and wide with sets of large square teeth inside. Along their bottom jaw are a pair of ridges (varies with gender). Their eye sockets are slightly set in, giving them good eye protection. Underneath their bottom jaw and chin, on the underside of the jaw, there are small square domes. Their heads have two long ridges going from the eyes up to the top of their heads. Their jaws also have massive ridges where they meet their skull.

The rock portions on their body start at the back of their head. There are three slightly larger sections that have the massive rock-like spikes coming out of them. The tail ends in a long sharp point, but with a blunt tip. Steelix's rock-like sections don't look perfect and can easily be mistaken for rocks, for they have many chips and scrapes all along them from fights and tunneling.

Fun Fact: Steelix is the second longest known Pokémon, surpassed in length only by Wailord.
