What is PKMNcast?

A lot of news this Monday.

If you follow my personal twitter, you would have saw that the other night I bought two new domain names!

One of those I have already mentioned: pkmnstore.com

You can also type in pokemon.goodsie.com - but we like our new URL better!

So in not wanting to be sued by Nintendo and/or GameFreak and/or the Pokémon Company, I cannot make a real logo for the site with the word "Pokémon" - but since I own the domain: www.pokemonpodcast.com - that is my right (that I OWN) to put onto shirts. I think every site needs a logo, and while this post isn't about our new logo (which is coming), it is about our new domain.

We will ALWAYS call the site Pokemon Podcast DOT com, but to make things easier, you can just type "pkmncast.com" into your browser to jump over to our site now. Pretty cool, right?

You probably guessed it, we can't use Pokémon in a logo, but we can use PKMN. Clever, right?

So you've probably known by now that the PKMNcast has some merch now. By merch, we mean... one shirt... but we are going to PIMP that one shirt until it is sold out. To celebrate that our new shirt is now shipping, we have someone new sporting it! Thanks to @rs1037 for showing off the Poli-Shirt with enthusiasm!

If you haven't ordered one, you better get on that! There are only 100 made and now that they are out in the "wild" - they are going to sell... we hope.

Thank so much to everyone who has purchased one so far. Also, send us a pic with you wearing it!

You can now go to pkmnstore.com to order one!

PKMN of the Week: Nidoking

Today we are going to go over another classic Pokémon. I think it's a good week to talk about Nidoking. That... and... I've been listening to a lot of Jay-Z. Not sure where the relation comes in with these two.

Much larger than their previous evolutions, Nidoking now have the ability to stand on their hind legs. Unlike his pre-evolutions, Nidoking is purple instead of fuchsia, and he does not possess spots. Nidoking’s most prominent feature is its large, pointed, venomous horn which it uses extensively for battling purposes. Nidoking’s ears have small pointed extensions on the tips, and the insides of its round ears are green-colored. Nidoking have five teeth on each side of their lower jaw, the fifth protruding out of the jaw and thus visible when its mouth is closed. Nidoking’s eyes are shaped like scalene triangles, and there is fur growing off the bottom of his jaw. The spines growing down Nidoking’s back are extremely large, as is its tail, which is decorated with several thin stripes. Its chest and abdomen, gray in coloration, seem to be quite muscular. Nidoking has white-colored ridges on its three-clawed arms and a single, large, hoof-like toe.

Some Fun Facts:

  • Nidoking and its female counterpart Nidoqueen share the same species name with Rhydon and Rhyperior. They are all known as Drill Pokémon. Coincidentally, all four are also Ground-types.
  • Nidoqueen and Nidoking are the only Pokémon with a Poison/Ground type combination.

Saturday Sketch

Well...there's no hiding why I picked this one (8

Garchomp has to be one of (if not) my favourite pokemon. I'm in love with this piece by TDH called "Har Har Garchomp"

He gave this already awesome looking land-shark an even more awesome makeover! I love the scribbly lines and shading, It really gives the piece an almost robotic feeling (and we all know how much I love robots, no?) Tell me you can't picture this being a summon!

These posts keep getting more and more fun for me. And are also making me realize that i'm not only a nerd, I'm a super nerd for art.

(I've not linked directly to the artist's page or typed his username out completely because they aren't "child friendly")

001 Late Night Toys

001 Late Night Toys from Pokémon Podcast on Vimeo.

The season premier of the Pokémon Podcast's first web show/video podcast. SBJ goes toy hunting in various stores. Also, SBJ sits down and talks about a big part of the show, Featured Team. We have a who's that Pokémon segment, as well as, a Pokémon YouTube Video that we added. It may seemed rushed. But this is almost like a full test for quality, sound, cameras, people, timing transitions... aka... video Podcasts are a lot of WORK!

MOTW: Guillotine

Your dead. That’s it. It’s over. You were taken out in one hit. “How’s that even fraking possible!!?” You ask yourself. “I had a substitute on a Blissy with full health!!!” It’s totally possible. Welcome to Guillotine.

Guillotine is one of four moves in the entire game that can make nearly anything faint on contact. Pretty brutal.

Featured Team of the Week

This is such an exciting week. The new Poli-Shirts ship this week, Critical Hit launches this week, we've come back strong then ever with some awesome episodes, and today we have a great Featured Team.

Today's team is one of our own Editors. You may know her as doing the Saturday Sketch every weekend. Amazing. Let's be a little tough on Catie's team this week, eh? Now, she's now allowed on Episode 022, and neither is Wil. Just to be fair... but we have a great returning guest. Stay tuned!
