AOTW: Motor Drive

Goooood morning, pokefans! It’s Friday once again, so it’s time to discuss another one of those profuse passive pokemon powers, a new featured Ability! I love Electric type pokemon, despite their obvious Achilles ’ heel of low HP and defense stats, there’s something inherently cool about what are usually small, fragile creatures housing such volumes of voltage. Electric types have always been included on my team in past incarnations of the franchise we all love, whether it's the recognizable mugs of Pikachu and his evolutionary line, the speedy and spiky Jolteon, or the cool and powerful Luxray. The most recent in the string of Electric monsters I’ve employed in my party is the grossly popular evolution of the first generation classic monster, Electivire, who appears in both Featured Teams that will be discussed in episode 27 of It’s Super Effective. And this Electric titan of a pokemon brings his own unique Ability to the table; this is Ability of the Week: Motor Drive!

Three Monkeys

We've talked about this on the show, but for those who like to read, here is the scoop. These Pokémon are a trio of elemental monkeys known in Japan as Yanappu, Baoppu, and Hiyappu. Here in the English Countries, they will be knowns as (from left to right) Pansear, Pansage, and Panpour.

Pokémon Black and White is set to release March 6th. Which monkey will you get?

PokéFact: Blast From The Past

I'm sorry guys, but this post has to be a short one. I final exams this week and I don't have as much time as I usually do and everything is just stupid. (Don't you miss being in high school?) I'll try to make it up to you though. Next weeks post may be a long one and in this post I'll do multiple mini facts that a lot of you probably already know (sue me!), but it's better than nothing, right? Though I do give you permission to hate me, if you don't already. (:

Clean the dust off your Game Boys, because today facts are going to be about Red and Blue, which if you remember came out way back in 1998 and you should be please to know that I was already born during that time. I was only two at the time, but I was alive and well, which should count for something! And now time for the facts:

In Red and Blue, you were able to use a fishing rod on the Rhydon statues. However, nothing was found unless you used an Old Rod. Ninetales' name was originally spelled as "Nine Tales" in some early copies of the game. Some beta versions of Red and Blue list Machamp's original name as "Ju-Doh." The Nidorino that appears in Professor Oak's introduction has the cry of a Nidorina. Red and Blue only use 37 completely unique sound clips for cries. The sounds are played back in different ways for each Pokemon. And finally, they collectively are the best selling (non-bundled) game of all time.

PKMN of the Week: Sandslash

This week we are going to celebrate Sand-Attack because of our new product. If you haven't seen it, check it out here. A perfect choice to celebrate Sand-Attack today would be with Sandslash.

In the wild, Sandslash are more offensive than their pre-evolution, Sandshrew, but are still mostly defensive by nature. They spend much of their time hidden underground in their burrows, and will kick up sand or curl into a ball to escape predators. It will also curl into a ball to prevent heatstroke during the high temperatures of the daytime in its habitat. Although it is known to regrow its claws and spines if broken or snapped off, it does seem to have habitual molting, for once a year the old spikes fall out, to be replaced with new spikes that grow out from beneath the old spikes.

When needed, they can perform a variety of techniques to attack enemies, including slashing at them, rolling at them while curled up...
