Favorite Featured Dream Team

In lieu of a new Featured Team this week, I think it would be great if everyone posted their favorite 6 Pokémon. No moves, stats, or anything, just your dream team, even if it would be a horrible team.  I admire when SBJ went to Nationals last year, for VGC, because he didn't take a "normal" team but one with Pokémon that he liked.  I think that VGC Championships and increased competitive battling have made us sacrifice Pokémon we love with Pokémon who are "good" for competitve battling.  So please, go in the comments and list off your 6 Dream Team.  Also, my favorite post will be next week's Featured Team.

Mine is just as it says on my trainer page.  (My favorite type is Ice.)

1. Articuno (My favorite Pokémon since I first saw his sprite in Red.)

2. Arcanine (Who doesn't love a loyal puppy?)

3. Mamoswine

4. Weavile

5. Blastoise (#Blastoids?)

6. Zoroark

***Update***

List names if you have them.  I've never named my Pokémon but I LOVE hearing names!

MOTW: Round

Hiya, Trainers! As always, my name is Kenny and welcome to Move of the Week! Today we're looking at an interesting yet rarely used move; Round! Round is a Normal-Type Special Category move. It sports a Base Power of 60, an Accuracy of 100%, and a PP of 15 (Max 24). Now, you'd think that with a mediocre Base Power of 60 that there would be some secondary effect. Does it have a chance of causing a status effect? Nope. Well maybe it effects a stat like Snarl does? Hmm, sorry but no dice. Well at this point you're probably thinking...

July Letter from SBJ

Hey Guys! Hope everyone is enjoying their summer. I just got back for the National Pokémon Tournament last week. While there, I met a ton of Pokémon fans and some who knew about "It's Super Effective". This year I didn't play the video game. With 2 week prior to Nationals, I attempted to perfect my Vanilluxe/Vileplume/Victini deck for the TCG segment. Due to the slow nature of the deck, I lost 2 matches because of time alone. Overall, I was happy with my showing of 4 wins - 5 losses. Speaking of "It's Super Effective"...

PKMN of the Week: Whiscash

Cash money, baby, cash money.

So, folks, I had a pretty decent plan for VGC Nationals.  Yes, I was going to copy a little from my friend Gabe but I was also planning on throwing a little bit of my own spice in.  If you read my travelogue, you know that I wasn't able to get my intended team up and ready in time for Nationals.  Instead, I used my goofing team that I just fool around with.  Kind of surprising that I won twice, huh?

Over the next few weeks I will cover the Pokémon I used in VGC Nationals and indicate some changes I could have made that might have improved my chances.  The team I ended up with was Terrakion, Hydreigon, Volcarona, Whiscash, Zoroark, and Eelektross.  I've already covered Hydreigon, and he was actually one of my top performers, so you may want to look back for that article.  This week I am going to cover the Pokémon I named my team after:  Tickles the Whiscash.

Saturday Sketch

This artwork was made by *Stelera

It is called “Fireworks in Alamos”

If you have ever watched the anime, during the times when they did contests, they combined their Pokémon’s moves together to make cool looking move display to impress the Judges.

That is what this art is trying to show, different Pokémon combining their abilities and moves.

First up we have a Flareon that uses “Will-o-Wisp and Lava Plume” together to make a “firework” effect!

For the second Pokémon, I am unsure on which Electric Pokémon it could be,  the Pokémon has “prickly fur” from what the artist says in their description.

But this Pokémon Launches itself into the air and uses “Magnet Rise and Wild Charge” to propel it across the sky “like a missile.”

And Finally we have a Lucario who tosses a “Aura Sphere” into the sky and follows it with a “Focus Blast” making the two moves create a “bright blue supernova.”

The reason I picked this art is because of the 4th of July holiday just passed, and it’s celebrated with tons of Fireworks!

So I thought, What If Pokémon created the fireworks instead of using man made types of fireworks?

I looked it up and came up with this artwork!

I hope you all enjoy this artwork as much as I do!

It’s quite an amazing piece.

Nationals Wrap Up and Looking Forward with Dragons

Hey everyone! It's been a while since I've written and article but I really wanted to express my passion I have for the Trading Card Game right now. I had a blast at Nationals with SBJ, Irene, Chris, Travis, Will, Dominick, Kelsey and Kay and I wanted to especially thank them for cheering me on in the top cut at Nationals. I finished 61st in my flight out of 502 players and in the top 128 of 1005 players in the masters division.

Pokémon Nationals Travelogue

Well, dudes, I've been home from Pokémon Nationals for a few days now and felt like it was time to capture my thoughts in an article.  This was my first trip to Nationals and my first time meeting up with the rest of the Pokémon Podcast crew.  My memory may not be the greatest, please forgive any inaccuracies, I will try to capture as many vignettes as possible.  Keep in mind as well that I spent most of my time with Irene and Kidd, they will most likely show up more frequently in my tales.

First off - the drive to Indianapolis from DC is horrible.  Ten hours.  The first four are through the western mountains of Maryland, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.  Then it is completely flat and boring through Ohio and Indiana.  I was about seven and a half hours into the trip when I texted Irene and told her I was going to turn around and go home.  I just couldn't take it anymore!
