POKÉMON FOR JAPAN

It seems as though people don’t even talk about it anymore, but Japan still needs our help, more than ever now! Exactly one month after the earthquake that started all this chaos, a 7.0 magnitude quake struck 100 miles north of Tokyo. This was only hours after the country had paid tribute to those killed only one month ago.

Yesterdays earthquake made conditions so much worst in Japan. Even if it didn’t happen yesterday, Japan would still be in trouble. Survives are still looking for young ones. Wreckage is all around and rebuilding will take more than a while. Nuclear power plants are struggling to get fixed and over 80,000 people who lived near them have been evacuated. 7,000 schools were damaged and thousands of kids are unable to return.

PKMN of the Week: Cubchoo

Cubchoo is an ursine Pokémon with a light blue head and neck. It has a slightly pointed head, with large round ears, shiny, dark, oval-shaped eyes, and a darker-blue muzzle. Cubchoo has a shiny dark nose, from which a considerable amount of light blue nasal mucus, the source of its attacks, droops. The lower part of its body is white, with rounded forepaws, digit-less feet with black paw-pads, and a small round tail.

A Cubchoo's nose is constantly running. It inhales the mucus and uses it in its attacks. If it is in bad health, the mucus becomes watery, which powers down its Ice-type techniques.

Team Tactics: Trick Room Octillery

"Slow and steady wins the race."  You've no doubt heard the phrase.  The tortoise and the hare taught us that sometimes, speeding through life can be a bad thing.  Stop and smell the roses.  It's good advice, even when it comes to forcibly pitting two creatures against one another in bloody combat.

But, Alan, I thought you told us that speed is good?  Well, it is.  Unless you encounter the move known as Trick Room.  It is a unique move that causes Pokémon with a lower speed stat to attack first.  It lasts for five turns.  High priority moves like Quick Attack will still go first though, and Quick Claw will still allow the Pokémon to attack first if it activates.  Trick Room always goes last when used though, so be sure the Pokémon using it can take a hit.

With Trick Room active, Octillery becomes a beast of a sweeper and can decimate a team with his tentacled fury.
