Rare Article: Travis' Ubers Impressions

I've always been turned off by the "Ubers" tier (which allows all Pokémon to be used, including the really strong legendary ones). Fighting matches where anything goes just didn't appeal to me. I only recently tried my first Ubers match, and I was surprised by not only the depth of strategy involved, but also how different it is to an average match with a banlist. I thought I would post some of the things I enjoyed about it. Now I am no longer thinking about doing that, for as I type I am indeed posting some of the things I enjoyed about it. Please comment below if that joke was even remotely funny. Anyway, here are my impressions of Gen V Ubers.

PKMN of the Week: Garchomp

When I go out on the town, which I tend to do on Friday nights, I like to check in to places on Foursquare.  Most of the places I frequent don't have bonuses for the mayor but I like being able to see who else has checked in at the same location and where my friends around the country are at the same time.

Unfortunately, downtown DC has terrible cellular coverage and it can be difficult to get a data connection when you are trying to check in.  This past Friday I was having just that problem, fiddling with my phone trying to check in, when a hand started waving over the screen.

Saturday Sketch

It’s Saturday again, so you know what that means! It’s time for another Saturday Sketch.

But first I would like to say thanks if you read/view the Saturday Sketch every week.

Honestly, I really do appreciate it!

So who’s awesome?

YOU ARE!

But you know what else is awesome?

A shiny Haxorus.

Because as you can see above that is this week’s Saturday Sketch!

Everyone who is anyone knows that Haxorus is a pretty sweet Pokémon to use in the video games.

However how about a Shiny Haxorus?

Black darkish body with Red Axe like “horns” and claws, it’s pretty much the Darth Vader of Pokémon. “Color Wise”

The work in question is named Pokemon: Shiny Haxorus. It was drawn by ~mark331 of deviantART.

He does some other Poké works on deviantART as well; you should really check them out.

Anyways that’s all I got for these weeks Saturday Sketch. Hope you enjoyed it.

This is Kay, Logging out!

AOTW Rapid-Fire!! Poison Touch, Forewarn, and Keen Eye

Here we go again, kids. It’s high time I got through another trio of Abilities for your weekly pokémon edutainment.

…A brief pause here to acknowledge the hilarious fact that Microsoft Word has not attempted to correct the word “edutainment”. The sheer number of made-up words I’ve invented for this article, and I can get away with “edutainment” scot-free. I suppose I have PBS to thank for this. Thanks, Fred Rogers, you’re missed.

Anyhoo. Let’s get this thing started. Put on your Abiliteer caps, boys and girls! This is Ability of the Week: Rapid-Fire!! Poison Touch, Forewarn, and Keen Eye!

Rustling Grass - Episode 001

Rustling Grass Episode 001: Justin

What's Your Favorite Pokemon: At the moment, it's probably Luxray. Luxray was the first Pokemon I got really excited about using in Pearl version, since Turtwig, Starly, and Bidoof were a little underwhelming at the time. But I got over it for a while.

However, a few months ago, I was scrolling through tumblr and I started seeing a lot of Luxray fan art. Some cool gijinkas (people drawn wearing clothes that resemble a certain Pokemon), some cool battle art, etc. So there was a lot of it just floating around on the outside of my peripheral.

Then, one day, I was making some changes to my Doubles team, and I figured I might as well...
