PKMN of the Week: Landorus

Another Sunday, another holiday!  Christians and consumerists are celebrating the season by reflecting on various fertility images - eggs that represent new life and rabbits that represent, well, what rabbits represent.  Spring is in the air, it's still chilly but there are signs that Winter is over and we see the regeneration of trees and plants around us.

Landorus is the Pokémon that represents a balanced environment that will assure a bountiful harvest.  The land is rich, there will not be too much wind or too much rain, and your plants will grow strong.  Landorus balances Tornadus and Thundurus, he stops the unfettered storms ravaging the Unova region.

Saturday Sketch

This week I bring you something a little different than a sketch, actually it’s not a sketch at all.

However it still remains that it is a form or art that is inspired by a video game created in a video game.

The video game the work was created in is non-other than Minecraft.

Although Minecraft is not entirely Pokémon related I am sure that many people who play Pokémon enjoy it just as well.

So here we have some cool Pokémon inspired creations that were made in Minecraft.

You can find these and many more images just by searching Pokémon and Minecraft together in any search engine.

“Sorry for the lazy way of finding more images a mistake came across on my part when finding these images.”

The reason that I chose Pokémon Minecraft art this week is because I recently started a Minecraft server for the Pokémon community!

If you are into Minecraft and would like to join the server, please contact me on Twitter and I will provide you with the server information.

Edit: 4/8/2012

I have added a new Photo as you can see on the front page.

This photo was screencaped from the Server!

And a higher view of the starting town, "still in progress".

If you would like in on the server please contact Alec.

His Twitter is @alec_rose

Thank you for viewing this weeks Saturday Sketch and have a great week!

AOTW: Stall

Oh column. Sometimes you’re too good to me. So good that it actually makes things a little harder. Here I am, picking Abilities almost arbitrarily on a weekly basis, and then having to figure out a somewhat clever lead-in to the article. Maybe a play on words? A what-if scenario? How about a pop-culture reference? And then fate just decides to go a throw me an Ability with a name so obvious to its effect, there’s really nothing I can say except complain that all I can say is this is Ability of the Week: Stall!

MOTW: Heavy Slam

Heya guys, Kenny here. First off, sorry about not posting an article last week. Anyway, enough of that. Let's get on to our Move of the Week: Heavy Slam!

Heavy Slam is a Physical-Category Steel Type move with 100% accuracy. The power, however, varies upon weight! That's right friends, for once that part of the Pokédex entry that tells you how heavy a Pokémon is actually matters! As the name might lead you to imagine, heavy Pokémon are best suited for this move. The heavier the user is than its opponent, the more damage the move does! For those who are curious...

AOTW: Cacophony

Hey guys! Long time! Before we get into it, I owe you guys an explanation for my unscheduled hiatus. The simplest explanation is just three words: “I’ve been busy”. As those of you keeping score at home know, I moved out of my parents house around November last year, and since then, I’ve been largely preoccupied with converting my suburban Chicago apartment into a home (which largely entails cleaning up after company and roommates, but I digress). I’ve also taken up a new day job that, apart from occupying about 30 hours of my week and my entire weekend, leaves me utterly exhausted, which makes finishing off a Friday article difficult. The Redeemers team and I over at Lonely Robot Comics have also been working nonstop on getting issue three out the door in time for C2E2, which I’m proud to say we have accomplished. Finally, apart from my comic book, I’ve had a few other art gigs (including the new PKMNcast convention banner) that have been commanding all of my free time. So that brings us up to present day. I’ve still got a lot on my plate, but I’ve whittled it back to a manageable amount. Also, in an attempt to get my article out on a regular basis again, I’m going to try moving the regular AOTW day to Thursday, so the next article will be out later this week.

But enough about my scheduling conflicts! Let’s talk some pokémon! In Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire Versions, a family of monsters was introduced with a focus on sound. This trifecta of tonality appeared on the Hoenn scene and brought with them a one-of-a-kind Ability that renders the user impervious to all attacks of their own specialty! It’s time to get your earplugs ready, because this is Ability of the Week: Cacophony!

A Wilde, Oscar has Appeared! (to Discuss Deck Building)

Lets talk Durant for a second. The deck is out of tier 1, probably even 1.5, but the actual skeleton of deck is solid. Ten to thirteen energy, a large trainer base, and probably no more than six Pokemon with three to four of them as same main attacker. Durant used this because Durant’s devour attack required more Durant in play to be effective however it’s working for other decks as well. This skeleton is also used for the mono-Terrakion build that saw some play at states. This week at the Whimsy Tackle table SBJ brought a new contender into the ring with a mono-Kyruem build. What is making these decks function so well?

PKMN of the Week:
