Pokemon of the Week: Tepig

Tepig is a pig-like Pokémon, primarily orange in coloration with the additional colors of black, pink, and yellow on various portions of its body. It has large, ovular eyes, an archetypically piglike ruddy-pink nose, and a thick stripe of yellow over its snout. Much of its face has black coloration, and its ears, long and oblong, are positioned closely together on the top of its head. Tepig has short legs, with the extremities of its forefeet being black in coloration. There is a band of black on its lower back and rear, from which extends its coiled tail, topped with a ruddy-red bauble-like adornment.

It can blow fire from its snout. Tepig are very nimble which allows them to dodge attacks with ease.

Tepig uses its fire-breathing abilities to cook its food. Tepig will blow smoke from its nose instead of embers if it becomes sick. It has been shown to wag its tail when happy.

Team Tactics: Introduction to Destruction

Last we spoke, I was younger.  I had a sweet pompadour, and a devil-may-care attitude.  My jeans were tight and I wore a leather jacket of passion.  You had long flowing hair, and we discussed many things.  In particular, how to force Pokémon to breed for our amusement.  They became violent extensions of our very being, and the world was a beautiful place.

I want to get that feeling back Pokémaniacs.  Breeding was only the tip of the iceberg.  I want to get into the nitty gritty.  I am not going to swamp you with more numbers.  Okay, there will be some numbers, but they won't be nearly as complicated or involved as IV breeding.  Though if you want to get the most out of this series, you will probably want to go back and review the Breeding 101 series as I will build upon that knowledge in this series.  A series I like to call…

Team Tactics!  Go ahead, yell it out.  It feels good.

Saturday Sketch

This week i'm posting this cute little sculpture of the 3 chandeler pokemon: Litwick, Lampent and (shiny) Chandelure!

"This sculpture took a very long time. With the marbles, I have to bake certain parts over the marble, while others I have to superglue on. Baking alone takes about 15 minutes for one little piece, so that is where most of my time put into this went."

This is truely something awesome!

AOTW: Moxie

It’s here, trainers! Pokemon Black and White Versions have officially dropped in the States, and kudos if you’ve been able to tear yourself away from it long enough to come to Ability class! I promise not to keep you for long this week, so you can get back to being much further along in the game than I am. To celebrate the release of generation five, this week we’re talking about one of the Abilities new to the game, and boy howdy could this sucker be a useful one, especially in the post-game. Give your DS’s a break and settle in, folks. This is Ability of the Week: Moxie!

1.08 Million in ONE Day.

NEW POKÉMON VIDEO GAMES SHATTER U.S. SALES RECORDS

Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version Combine to Sell More Than 1 Million in a Single Day

REDMOND, Wash., March 8, 2011 – Two new Pokémon™ video games went on sale on March 6 and promptly shattered all previous U.S. Pokémon sales records. The Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version games for the Nintendo DS™ family of systems became the fastest-selling Pokémon video games of all time, selling more than 1.08 million units after just one day of availability. That surpasses the previous one-day sales record of more than 780,000 set by the Pokémon Diamond Version and Pokémon Pearl Version games in April 2007.

"Longtime Pokémon fans are attracted to the new Pokémon, new battle systems and a new region to explore, while newcomers enjoy the ability to jump in and have fun right away," said Charlie Scibetta, Nintendo of America's senior director of Corporate Communications. "These sales numbers illustrate the continued strength of the Nintendo DS family of systems. Already established as the nation's best-selling video game platform of all time, the installed base of more than 47 million makes it the ideal hand-held for developers to reach a huge gaming-focused target audience."

Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version feature more than 150 new Pokémon for players to catch, train and battle. The never-before-seen Unova region gives players a whole new world to explore. For the first time in the series, in-game environments change with the four seasons. The games also introduce Triple Battles and Rotation Battles, which give players even more choices when battling.

PKMN of the Week: Snivy

Hope everyone got a copy of Black/White over the weekend!

Snivy #495

It absorbs energy in the sunlight to grow more powerful, which also sharpens its movements and agility. It is a smart Pokémon with a cool demeanor. It usually basks in the sun and undergoes photosynthesis with its tail, which droops when it loses energy. Mostly they live in tall grass in forests, or in trees.

Facts:

 • Shortly after its release, much like many other Generation V Pokémon newly introduced, Snivy received the fan-made moniker, "Smugleaf". This name was picked up on and published in an article on video gaming-focused blog Kotaku and later in an issue of Official Nintendo Magazine Australia and New Zealand, as well as its United Kingdom counterpart.

• Despite what its Pokédex entry for Black says, it cannot have the ability Chlorophyll.

Concept Corner delay

Okay, guys, here's the deal. Obviously, Pokemon Black & White came oput today. I, however, am not playing my lovely copy of White version. Why, you ask? Well, basically I drowned my DSi. It's pretty broken. I'm currently trying to fix it, but even if my efforts work, I won't be able to play until tomorrow. Luckily, I have a friend who's loaning me his extra DS tomorrow night.

How does this tie into Concept Corner, you wonder? Well, my next article I ahd planned covers a matter that really can't be well-written unless I've played through the first hour or two of the game. I obviously haven't been able to do so. I'll be able to write the article tomorrow night, which means you probably won't see it until Tuesday.

I apologize sincerely, and assure you I'll take steps to ensure my articles don't come in late again.
