Rare Article: New Year Blowout!

This has been a great year for Pokémon. I figured I'd use this week's Rare article to look back at 2011 and see what both the Pokémon games and our very own PKMNcast has given you for your enjoyment! Allons-y!

Chapter 1: This Year in Pokémon Games, Or: "Ya Darned Kids With Yer Vidyagames!"

There was a big release this year, if you haven't noticed. In March, Pokémon: Black Version and Pokémon: White Version were released in North America, Australia, and Europe. From Victini to Genesect (or Victini to Kyurem, because Genesect doesn't exist yet), we were introduced to a whopping 156 new Pokémon. That's more new Pokémon than any other generation! And the fun didn't stop there! Black and White brought the most significant and nuanced storyline that we've seen in a Pokémon game, and the online capabilities improved on those introduced in Generation IV.

We also got a new 3DS game called Pokémon Rumble Blast, which is a fun romp. Add that to the Pokédex 3D app and the Pokéyear seems quite full!

Chapter 2: This Year in PKMNcast, Or: Hubris!

It's been a fun year for both PKMNcast fans and staff. We gave you an interview with a voice actor from the Pokémon anime, a live show at C2E2, an awesome booth at Midwest Gaming Classic, a probably too long chat about bug cup, and a ton of great new editors! 2011 saw the introduction of Kenny, David, Kidd, Vincenzo, Saul, and yours truly, of course. We also got to hear the sultry tones of Jay's voice for the first time, after reading his articles in 2010.

2011 also contained my run on Item of the Week, my switch to Rare Article, the beginning of Jay's "Shattered Gemstones" series, and a ton of TCG content from Kidd, Vincenzo, SBJ, and Irene. This year was a ton of fun!

We also had great fans throughout the year, and I would like to thank you for all the support you've given us! I know I speak for SBJ and the rest of the PKMNcast crew when I say that all your comments, emails, and Pokétalk posts make us happy!

Chapter 3: This Year in the TCG, Or: Priceless Cardboard

Just kidding, I don't know enough about the TCG to give a retrospective of the year.

Wanna know the only thing better than 2011 in Pokémon and PKMNcast? 2012. I'll see you next week for the first Rare Article of the new year!
