PKMNcast is Hiring

Hey All,

As we prepare for the launch of the new site, we want to bring on some new people. We want the best, like no one ever was. Here is the deal with why and how to work for PKMNcast.

Before we begin, we need to stress that our positions are non-paid. While other sites may offer payment for articles, we are focued on building a community around passionate Pokémon fans.

Rare Article: 3 Moves You Should Consider

Smiley face Back in the B.T. era of PKMNcast (I split our history up by "B.T." and "A.T," which stand for "Before Travis" and "Ano Travini," respectively,) SBJ wrote one of this site's most popular articles, Pokémon You Should Consider. I've set out to write a similar spiel but with the focus changed to underrated moves, being one without any genuinely unique ideas of my own. I suppose in that way I'm like the Avatar of PKMNcast.

BOOM. TAKE THAT, JAMES CAMERON! Just kidding, J.C. Please give me your money and your weird undersea exploratory vessels.

With that out of the way, let's look at some underrated moves, shall we?

$1000 to Child's Play

We couldn't be happier with how 649 Monsters went. We sold over 50 pieces of work of the 80 that we show-cased for everyone in Milwaukee.

With that being said, if 649 Monsters was to happen again... we'd love to hear about it in the comments. Even possible locations, themes, time frames etc.

I think the questions I was mosted asked when people were leaving the gallery was...

AOTW: Steadfast

A few weeks ago, we talked about Abilities that speed up your pokémon by manipulating the weather conditions on the battlefield. Specifically, Chlorophyll, Swift Swim, and Sand Rush. These are all handy-dandy Abilities, but maybe by this time, you’re getting sick of having to run a weather-maker on your team. Well, you can take your teams indoors, because this is Ability of the Week: Steadfast!

PKMN of the Week: Cyndaquil

Something you can say about most people who love Pokémon, either the video game, card game, cartoon, manga, or whatever else - they have a favorite Pokémon.  It seems strange that you would, in the most objective sense Pokémon are just tools that, in comparison with other role-playing games, are the equivalent of swords, spells, and tools.  Would you say they have personality?  Yet people identify with their favorite Pokémon.  They extend from the utility in the game and create something greater than what is presented in game or through the Pokédex entries.

Honestly, my favorite Pokémon these days tend to be the Dark-types.  While the translated-from-Japanese typing actually comes across as Evil-type, I agree with the translators that this isn't a good match.  Dark comes closer to indicating that these dudes may use some shady tactics but you can still use them for your altruistic purposes.

Expecting and Unexpected Decks

Battle Roads start next week, which means it’s time to stop playing around with Stunfisk and get our game faces on. There are a few decks that, without doubt in my mind, we will see at Battle Roads. There are also a few decks that haven’t gotten nearly as much play testing and may come up to surprise a few players.

Deck 1: Dragons (Fluffy-Chomp)

A no brainer, especially because there is a starter deck based around it, will we see this deck being played. The deck is typically Altaria/Garchomp but I’ve played against some variations.

Shattered September!

Hey, boys and girls! It's your freindly neighborhood spider-Jay. I know it's been a few months since the end of Shattered Gemstones' first season, and you have fair reason to ask why. But fear not! For today I bring you something new. A little bit of build-up I'm calling Shattered September.

Shattered Gemstones season 2: A Vast and Fertile Wasteland will be starting on September 24th, but I don't intend to leave you all with nothing until then. Quite the contrary, in fact. Shattered September is a blog which will be updating daily to semi-daily with new concept art, previews, excerpts from chapters, my own thoughts on the series, and a new side-story each Monday. The blog can be found at http://shatteredseptember.tumblr.com/, so follow that baby on tumblr and keep checking back for new stuff, starting tomorrow! If you've enjoyed Shattered Gemstones thus far, I think this will be a great companion to the story. You can also follow me on twitter @IatosHaunted for news and my witty/disturbing stream of consiousness while writing.

That's all for now, folks! Feel free to give feedback on what you see throughout Shattered September, and look forward to the start of season 2 on the 24th. Until then, this is Jay, signing out!

AOTW Rapid-Fire!! Own Tempo, Insomnia, and Color Change

It’s one day away, Abiliteers! PKMNcast’s charity art event 649 Monsters begins tomorrow at 6PM Central in Milwaukee, WI. And me? Yeah, I’m stoked. 649 represents a fantastic collision between my greatest passion and one of my favorite hobbies: art and Pokémon. And in that spirit, I’m gearing up for the show by celebrating the union the best way I can- by waxing intellectual about some art-themed Abilities. Grab up a sketch pad and settle in. This is an Ability of the Week Rapid-Fire!! Own Tempo, Insomnia, and Color Change!
