A Wild Announcement Has Appeared!, 5.0 out of 5 based on 4 ratings

What could be better than one Pokémon?

Two Pokémon? Three? Groups of Pokémon battling it out!?

What could be better than 649 Monsters, the original Milwaukee Pokémon themed art show?

Possibly a follow up? A bigger, bolder follow up?

One of the most commonly asked questions at 649 Monsters was whether SBJ would host another show next year.

Well – I hope you’re ready. It’s next year and time for the official announcement:

Out of the gate, you’ve got to be pumped. The original 649 Monsters had artists focus on an interpretation of a single Pokémon. Battle City is all about Pokémon doing what they do best – standing against each other and testing their merit on the pitch. Artists are free to express Pokémon battles of all types. In the woods, in a a stadium, trainer battles, wild battles, under the sea, in the air . . . in outer space!? Two Pokémon, three Pokémon, thousands of Durant battling a single Wailord! Can you envision it? Someone will, someone will place their digital pen to digital paper and bring that amazing vision to life!

Before this can happen, though, we need your help. Last year, 649 Monsters cost, well, a ton of money. SBJ paid out of pocket to rent the exhibition space, to print (high quality) and frame the art, and to bring entertainment and refreshment for the shows guests. While all the costs are recouped in the long run, that was quite the outlay for one, albeit passionate, dude.

SBJ is launching a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the Battle City art show. You can view the Kickstarter page at:

With a contribution as small as $1 (one dollar) you can help get Battle City under way. Why stop there, though? I strongly encourage you to read through all of the pledge levels. To be perfectly honest – I argued with SBJ that he wasn’t setting the amounts high enough. What you will receive at each of the pledge amounts is absolutely amazing. Show exclusive t-shirts and merchandise. Your selection of pieces that have been created for the show. Opportunities to mingle with the cast of It’s Super Effective and, yes, you can buy your way on to the podcast. Seriously, go look now and then come back here for a minute.

OK, sorry, was just kidding. I don’t really have anything else to add except that I am super pumped for Battle City and can’t wait to see all of the artwork produced for the show. Who knows? You may just catch me in Milwaukee this August.
