Sorry, You’re Just Not My Type

Scott Charboneau February 5, 2013

Sorry, You're Just Not My Type, 4.3 out of 5 based on 3 ratings SizeAndType

Here I am, sitting alone at the bar, when all of a sudden, you stroll in. I lift my head from my ice cold glass of Moomoo Milk, and catch a glimpse as you stroll across the room. You’re big and strong – almost Intimidating – but I can tell you have a Clear Body. Your red eyes pierce my gaze, and you make your way towards me. As you draw closer, I notice your skin shines like high polished industrial grade steel. So, I get up, look you coldly in the face, and walk away.

Sorry, I don’t like Steel types.

There are 17 different types in Pokémon . I won’t list them, because I’m sure you already know, but nevertheless, there are 17. And out of these 17, we all have a favorite. But the most amazing thing of all, is that out of these 17 types, there are a million different reasons why we choose one as our favorite.

Maybe it’s the same type as your favorite Pokémon , Bibarel. Maybe you like the Offensive capabilities of the mighty Dragon type, or Defensive capabilities common among Rock types. Maybe you think Fire types have the coolest designs, or that Normal types are the cutest of all! These are all fantastic reasons on which to base your decision.

TypesHorizontal

Personally, my favorite type is Grass, and I’m not entirely sure why. My first Pokémon ever was Bulbasaur, so that might have something to do with it, but I know it’s not the only reason.

Leech Seed and Giga Drain are also some of my favorite moves; and they’re Grass type moves. Being able to slowly dwindle away my foes HP, and restore my own health in the process, is astounding to me. Speaking of moves, I also liked having the option of all the “Powders” on my Pokémon. Status conditions are commonplace with Grass Types, and I remember it being a huge deal choosing which one I wanted to keep when my Oddish was leveling.

Recently, I’ve also grown fond of Bug Types. Volcarona was all it took. That thing is a beast. Just the concept of its typing blows my mind. Bug/Fire? Yes, please! Bugs just seem so similar to Grass types, to me, as well.

So, if I had to choose, I’d say Grass is my favorite, followed closely by Bug.

What are your favorite types, and why? Leave a comment below!

P.S. Can you figure out which Pokémon I shunned in the intro?!

    Metagross, right?

My favorite type is Fighting, as evidenced by my favorite Pokémon & username. :P Other than that, I guess I’m just drawn to the character archetypes commonly portrayed in certain Fighting-types, like Lucario, Gallade, and Blaziken. :)

As I was reading, I thought it was Steelix, so that’s my guess.

My favorite type must be Dragon, I love the designs, what I don’t like is that most of them are only available later in the games.

I also like Psychic (it was unstoppable back on Gen 1 haha) and Fire

From what you said, we’re probably talking about Metagross. But Klinklang is also a possibility

    Anyways! Favorite types?

Absolute favorite type is Normal. I love how versatile they can be, and most of the Pokemon look super cute, or cool. They’re also really cool, in that they can fit in almost any team and perform a multitude of roles, be it as an attacker, supporters, cleric, etc.

But after that, a type I’m newly growing an interest in is Electric. Luxray is my all-time favorite Pokemon, and just the fact that it’s an electric type has gotten me to kind of take a look at others. Most Electric types have really sleek designs, and also function quite powerfully on teams. Granted, many are frail, their speed and power almost help make that a non-issue.

A year and a half ago, I would have said Dragon and Water though. How times change haha!
