Pokémon X and Y Announced!
Moebeetus January 8, 2013Pokémon X and Y Announced!,
On Tuesday, January 8, we got our first look at what appears to be Generation 6! At 8 PM (Japan time), Nintendo had Iwata speak on behalf about Pokémon X and Y versions. For what seemed for most fans to be a Ruby and Sapphire remake actually turned out to be a new game in the series for the Nintendo 3DS. Not much was told about plot or even the name of the region. We were introduced to the starters of this game:
We have the Grass-Type, Chespin…
…the Fire-Type, Fennekin…
…and the Water-Type, Froakie.
Along with the starters, we got a look at the massive environment that the game takes place in!

So, what are your thoughts, trainers? Are you liking the new style of play? Or, are you still in love with the style we have in our games now? If you don’t have a Nintendo 3DS, would this push you to get one?
Pokémon X and Y Versions are set for a release date of October 2013.

And I’m just sitting here with my DS lite and pokemon Ruby inside it, shouting curses at the screen.

I’m super excited. I don’t mind the play-style changing at all. If I want to play the “old” style I still have plenty of Pokemon games that I haven’t played yet to choose from (I’m currently playing the original Pokemon Red on my Gameboy Advance SP). I’m also really looking forward to my 3DS XL playing a Pokemon game made especially for it. And that Froakie will be mine. Oh yes. It will be mine.

All I can say… I want that giant bird legendary thing!!!!!!

It looks amazing. I loved the little encounter animation, and the battles just look epic, stadium epic. It is a thing of beauty, I just hope the story is as expansive as black, black 2, white and white 2. Seriously the only thing that will make it the best ever is a dynamic, indepth flowing storyline that encompasses the post game stuff as well

Looking forward though I still haven’t finished gen 5, But for all you wanting a R/S/E remake just think how awesome Hoen will look in 3D.

Agree with Cranky Tapir, we’ve had five generations (as well as remakes) of the traditional 2D Pokémon games. With the 3DS upping the capabilities of Nintendo’s portable hardware, there is no excuse for the Pokémon Company and Game Freak not to bring something new to the table. I have Pokémon games back to Gen 2 so I have plenty of ways to get the “old-school” fix.
That being said, I hope the disclaimer on the announcement page (“Game footage not final”) is very true. Some of the footage looked amazing, but some of the exploration looked a little barren (i.e. the mountain/desert terrain) and the character models look like deformed sprites from Square Enix remakes of Final Fantasy 3 and 4. By no means bad, but several years behind the curve in what I expect from a 3DS game these days.

I wasn’t ready for a gen 6 and I was hoping for gen 3 remakes but after seeing the legendaries I can’t wait for it to come out. Now I have a reason to get a 3ds!

To be fair. There as been a remake on every version of Gameboy/DS – but not the 3DS. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see that next on 3DS.

Hoen would be sweet in 3D and more enjoyable.

I’m so excited for these games! Why do we have to wait 9 months? I need my pokemanz ahora!

Super pumped! Definately getting Chespin – first time I’ve liked the Grass starter the most since Gen1.

I really liked Bulbasaur in LeafGreen, but every other region I’ve played (Johto – HeartGold, Sinnoh – Diamond, and Unova – all of them) I have preferred the other two over the Grass starter hands down. Chespin ends that trend; he looks so cute and fun. I can’t wait to see the evolutionary line.

Super excited! At first I was worried about 3D but it looks pretty good, plus as was mentioned we still have plenty of old 2D games to go back to. I am loving all three starters! Definitely going with Fennekin though, I love foxes too much. <3 Can't wait til October! The world release has me thrilled! Always wanted it but never ever thought it would actually happen.

Glad nothing will be too spoiled this time.

Looks like I’m getting a 3ds!
I’m glad nothing will get spoiled story wise, but I hope they let us know which versions have each pokemon!
